State of the Photography Industry Survey 2022
It’s been two years since life as we knew it, and the creative industry, changed overnight. It has been a pivotal two years with photographers and other creatives facing challenges in order to create in meaningful and lasting ways, and the pandemic has had an undeniable impact.
Despite the challenges to navigate shifting trends in photography and the visual landscape, along with the ever-changing rules and restrictions, photographers have continually shown up for themselves, their businesses, and their community.
In 2021 Zenfolio – an industry leader in online portfolio websites, business management, and eCommerce solutions for the photography community – conducted a State of the Photography Industry survey to get a deeper understanding of some of the main challenges and impactful solutions photographers experienced. The main themes uncovered in the 2021 survey were resilience and optimism.
Photographers got creative with how they positioned their businesses by adapting to the laundry list of challenges that presented themselves over the last couple of years. Some ways people have survived – and thrived – are with:
- New or modified services and offerings – diversifying revenue streams and tapping into unconventional sections of the market.
- Adopting new safety protocols to keep themselves and clients safe and at ease.
- Developing new skills to stay on top of the latest trends, and to continue improving and expanding what they’re able to provide.
- Professional growth and self-improvement by focusing on continuing education, workshops, and refining their online presence by sprucing up their website and social channels.
In 2022 Zenfolio is looking to the global photography and creative community (A.K.A. You!) to share your invaluable input to understand how the industry has changed and continues to change and evolve.
The survey only takes about 5 minutes to complete and we would love to get your perspective.
